There are many affordable and reliable models on the market now. I suggest you try Circuit City; they always have good deals and a remarkable return service. As for your computer there is probably nothing that can be done. I have been in IT for about 12 years, and it sounds pretty much terminal. If you are really attached to it, you might try Geek Squad, but it is probably a waste of money. eBay has excellent deals if you are trying to be very economical about getting a new computer. I can't tell you what else you need but I can tell you that you can't go terribly wrong with these programs.
