Why do photos on my screen look different when printed, or viewed on another screen??? How to fix it???

Hi.

I have Adobe Photoshop CS2 installed on my laptop computer and was using it to edit my digital photos.

After trying to print them and then trying to view them on other screens i have seen that they look nothing alike (the colours are all different).

So there is no point editing the photos to make them look good because when i put them on Flickr or try to print them, they will look completely different to other people when they try to view them on Flickr???

I’m going to Japan as a foreign exchange student in 3 weeks for a year and am taking my laptop and my Nikon D40…I was planning on taking many good photos and then editing them…but if they will look completely different is there any point in trying to edit them whilst i am over there???

My baggage limit is 20kg in a single bag,….so it is not very easy to buy an external monitor and take with me, and my host family might not have room in their car when they pick me up??

Any suggest. or ideas help.
Thanks

Its probably the Graphics Card inside your laptop or PC that is causing them to look blurry etc or different compared to others maybe the brightness and contrast is messed up on yours

Sounds like you need to get your monitor colour calibrated. Although you would expect them to look different when posted on a website in RGB to being printed in CMYK – both have different colour gamuts.

probably low graphics card. I would invest in a Radeon 9000 for the occasional gaming use. Works great for me and its cheap. Wish you luck!
